Bumblebee Brigde: They say the bumblebee doesn't look like it is "built" to fly. The Mystic River Bascule Bridge, doesn't look like it was meant to be raised. Two massive concrete blocks serve as counterweight to make the seemingly impossible possible. And up goes the Mystic River Bascule Bridge. I'm spring cleaning the RSS feed generator. So bear with me if you get a few hickups today. I wrote the old feed generator in 2003 and it is clear that I didn't really know what I was doing back then. In the mean while, if you haven't already subscribed to the feed, now would be a good time.Don't know what I'm on about? No worries! This video will bring you up to speed. She Sells Sea Shells: Ok, I'll admit it. I'm a sucker for this kind of light. This photo was shot in an old lobster hut at Mystic Seaport. [new photo posted on the Mads Pedersen PHOTOBLOG] (Posted: 21 May 2008 @ 10:42 GMT+1 - Write a comment)

MCMXVI - Massachusetts Institute of Technology: The roman numeral MCMXVI is the year Massachusetts Institute of Technology (aka MIT) moved its campus from Boston to the present location in Cambridge. Given the nature of the going-ons under the dome, the inscription was hacked to read IHTFP instead. More like this at hacks.mit.edu. And in case you're wondering MCMXVI = 1916 :-D [new photo posted on the Mads Pedersen PHOTOBLOG] (Posted: 20 May 2008 @ 09:22 GMT+1 - Write a comment)

Old Meets New: I love the old "Car Wash" stripped neon-sign above the building. It looks like something out of a 70s movie. The car wash is now actually a rather high-tech "ScrubaDub"-branch where cars go through on a conveyor belt and come out as "Cleaner, Drier, Shinier Cars Guaranteed!".This shot from Boston is the first in a series from a recent trip around New England. Stay tuned for more. [new photo posted on the Mads Pedersen PHOTOBLOG] (Posted: 15 May 2008 @ 10:07 GMT+1 - Write a comment)

Teddyfant - Memory Lane #2: Meet Teddyfant. This little guy (approx 12 cm high) was my best friend for the first few years of my life. If you look closely you can see that the trunk has been sewn back on. This "battle wound" is the result of a rather unfortuate incidence with a pair of scissors which subsequently probably cost my brother a black eye.
